How we came to be.
A short story, and rare moment of self indulgence.
Back in 2019 I was living in Northeastern Montana, a very rural area with limited access to many things, one of which being technology services. This, combined with the personal connections and professional relationships I’d made there, drove me to create Want For Tech. The amazing grassroots businesses and rural communities deserved superlative IT from someone who’d experienced a career ranging from London’s financial district to rural healthcare technology in a remote town of 2500 people. Our clients, many of which we still work with today, appreciated my honesty and ability to think bigger, better, more aware of the industry looking forward.
Now headquartered in Utah, Want For Tech’s clients span not just geographically, but in their diversity. Newspapers, healthcare, local municipalities. The way we work remains the same though, a healthy arm’s-length relationship with the technology we deploy. We can’t sell anything, from a laptop to a complete greenfield install, without a clear conscience that it’s the right fit and will benefit the people paying for it. We won’t quote a battleship for fishing boat work, ever. No amount of growth will change this core ideal.
